In this role, you will work with software scopes, licensing models, supplier offers, and digital service concepts, translating technical and commercial information into reliable target costs, total cost of ownership analyses, benchmarks, and recommendations that support strategic decisions.
How You Will Contribute
· Create clear cost analyses and target cost calculations for standard software, COTS products, digital services, and embedded software scopes
· Assess supplier offers and cost models for licensing, subscriptions, usage, maintenance, support, and lifecycle costs
· Identify key cost drivers, including functionality, performance, integration effort, cybersecurity, compliance, cloud/backend services, and data usage
· Support Purchasing and Development teams with fact-based input for sourcing decisions, supplier selection, negotiations, and commercial evaluations
· Develop benchmarks, business cases, total cost of ownership analyses, and management presentations that make software and digital costs transparent
· Analyze competitor software and service portfolios regarding customer value, functional scope, pricing logic, and differentiation
· Collaborate closely with Purchasing, Development, Legal, Finance, IT, Product Management, and external suppliers
· Help continuously improve our cost engineering methods, databases, and benchmarks for the next generation of automotive software
What You Bring
· A degree in industrial engineering, computer science, software engineering, business informatics, business administration, or a comparable field
· Experience in cost engineering, software purchasing, product management, controlling, business case development, or a role at the interface of technology and business
· Good understanding of software business models such as COTS, licenses, subscriptions, SaaS, usage-based models, maintenance, and support
· Knowledge of automotive software environments, such as infotainment, navigation, connectivity, online services, embedded software, OTA, cloud, and backend services
· A strong analytical and commercial mindset, with the ability to turn complex software topics into clear cost structures and practical recommendations
· A confident and collaborative communication style when working with internal departments, suppliers, and management stakeholders
· A structured, independent way of working, strong collaboration skills, and a team-oriented mindset
· Fluent spoken and written English; German language skills are an advantage
