JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for managing all operational accounting activities for Dealer Accounting, Accounting Systems, General Accounting and Lockbox operations. This role includes the business ownership of SAP. It also requires developing a good understanding of MBFS Operations, IT and Accounting to assess and approve activities that impact the general ledger. Additionally, it includes the responsibility of supporting accurate financial reporting and effective ledger management, helping coordinate the implementation of strategic initiatives/ projects and managing the team's professional development. Lastly, this role will be integral part of managing change.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage and oversee all processes in the Dealer Accounting and Accounting Systems areas. Manage the team as they perform daily activities of Accounting Systems and dealer facing loan/ portfolio processes. This includes supervising employees engaged in processing, analyzing and investigating differences related to the business. Assist direct reports to develop solutions for on-going problems, new product offerings and program changes while ensuring proper accounting treatment and producing results consistent with legal obligations, company policies and compliance requirements. Ensure accurate and timely accounting in compliance with IFRS. (25%)
2. Manage and oversee all processes in the General Accounting: Review account reconciliations for bank, intercompany, payroll and accrual GL accounts; approve intercompany invoice settlements, stop pays and voids, unclaimed property compliance, Form 1099 compliance, JVs on behalf of internal departments, fixed asset capitalization and disposals, Internal Controls testing, as well as coordinating data requests for internal and external audits. Ensure accurate and timely accounting in compliance with IFRS. (25%)
3. Support projects across the organization, manage system upgrades or enhancements in accordance with strategic initiatives. Tasks include reporting to the PMO, planning and ensuring the system is tested prior to implementation. Act as business lead regarding any changes or modifications to the SAP application and the ledger itself. Ensure accounting logic in compliance with IFRS. (10%)
4. Subject matter expert for technical accounting topics across all functions. Review transactions, contracts, guidance and prepare recommendations, whitepapers and oversee implementation. (10%)
5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in systems, AI and processes. Revalidate existing processes and accounting effect to ensure they are up to date. (10%)
6. Lockbox. Manage the team and assist in troubleshooting. Follow-up on and clear root causes of issues, manage KPI and ensure compliance. (10%)
7. Lead, motivate, recruit and develop allocated resources. (10%)
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 8+ years work experience required in accounting, auditing, financial reporting and internal controls. A minimum of 3 three years experience with financial services preferred. Experience in a large CPA firm preferred. Automotive OEM experience an asset.
Additional Skills:
- Prior internal or senior client management reporting experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of IFRS, and IFRS 9 in particular is required
- Leveraging AI in finance and accounting preferred

- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to manage under time constraints is also highly recommended
- Advanced knowledge of EXCEL, SAP
- Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills required
- Experience leading teams overseas an asset
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s – Accounting or Finance (required)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Master's Degree – Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (preferred)
