Our Team – Global Credit Risk Underwriting
As part of our global Credit Risk team based in Stuttgart, Germany, you will serve as a key credit authority for complex and strategically important financing transactions across the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services organization.
We assess, structure, and approve credit exposures that exceed the delegated authority of our international markets. In doing so, we collaborate closely with local credit teams, business units, external financing partners, and senior executives around the globe.
Our scope covers everything from traditional corporate lending and dealer finance to structured finance, syndicated transactions, and complex fleet financing solutions. In addition, we play a central role in continuously enhancing global credit processes, methodologies, and digital risk management capabilities.
These challenges await you:
- Independently analyze, structure, and underwrite complex corporate, dealer, and structured finance transactions with international exposure
- Prepare high-quality credit recommendations and risk assessments for management and credit decision-making committees
- Conduct comprehensive credit risk evaluations of large and complex exposures, including financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, industry evaluation, and transaction structuring reviews
- Support and manage strategically important financing transactions, acquisition financings, restructurings, and special situations
- Contribute to structured and syndicated financing transactions alongside banks and external financing partners
- Act as a central credit authority for transactions exceeding local credit approval mandates across international markets
- Prepare and present credit decisions and executive-level briefings to senior management and global credit committees
- Provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to international credit teams on complex risk-related matters
- Contribute to the enhancement of credit policies, rating methodologies, underwriting standards, and decision-making frameworks
- Support digitalization and automation initiatives within the global credit risk function
- Actively shape the global credit risk strategy and help ensure high portfolio quality and risk governance standards worldwide
What you bring to the table:
University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or a related field
Strong expertise in financial statement analysis, corporate credit analysis, and credit risk assessment
In-depth understanding of credit structures, collateral concepts, covenant frameworks, and risk mitigation techniques
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken; German language skills are advantageous but not required
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact confidently at senior management level
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in credit underwriting, credit risk management, or corporate banking within a major commercial bank, international bank, leasing company, captive finance organization, or comparable financial institution
Proven experience in Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Structured Finance, Leveraged Finance, Credit Risk Management, Workout, or Large Exposure Management
Demonstrated track record in the analysis and approval of complex corporate credit transactions
Experience working with international stakeholders and navigating decision[1]making processes within large organizations
Exposure to syndicated lending, acquisition finance, or large-scale corporate lending transactions is highly desirable
Experience presenting credit recommendations to senior management, credit committees, or comparable governance bodies
