Just down the road in Bibb County, MBUSI has launched the production of high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Purpose of the Position:
Under general supervision, this position bridges data engineering and automotive quality to enable data-driven decision-making. The role focuses primarily on designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, data models, and analytics solutions (~60–70%), while applying automotive quality knowledge (~30–40%) to support root cause analysis, quality improvement, and issue resolution across the product lifecycle. The position acts as an interface between Quality, Production, and IT to translate business needs into scalable data solutions and actionable insights.
Essential Functions:
• Synthesizes business and quality requirements and develops data-driven analytics solutions
• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines and data architectures
• Maps and integrates data sources (production, quality, IoT, warranty) into unified datasets
• Develops and maintains data warehouse and big data solutions
• Analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and root causes impacting quality performance
• Develops dashboards, reports, and visualizations for operational and management decision-making
• Applies statistical methods and machine learning techniques to enable predictive quality systems
• Defines data quality rules, governance principles, and monitoring processes
• Supports root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective actions using data-driven approaches
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve product and process quality
• Develops and maintains quality KPIs and performance metrics
• Supports audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives
• Works closely with stakeholders across Quality, RD, Production, Engineering, and IT to deliver solutions
• Translates business requirements into technical data solutions
• Communicates insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources. Work safely 100% of the time.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
Education:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology/Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Engineering/Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Relevant professional experience in the following area(s):data engineering, analytics, or related technical roles with exposure to manufacturing or quality environments
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Professional Skills - Technical / Data Engineering: :
• Advanced SQL and database knowledge
• Data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data architecture experience
• Programming skills (Python, R, Java, or similar)
• Data warehousing and big data technologies knowledge
• Experience with BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
• Understanding of machine learning and statistical methods
Professional Skills - Quality/Automotive:
• Understanding of automotive quality processes and problem-solving methods
• Experience with root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5-Why)
• Knowledge of manufacturing data and quality KPIs
Interdisciplinary Skills:
• Good problem-solving skills Teamwork
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in automotive manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of AI / advanced analytics in quality applications
• Experience with big data tools (Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.)
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies
