Objective of job

The Program Management Compact & Mid-size Car Team is part of the department Program Management in the field of Product and Project Steering. As Strategic Project Lead (SPL) for local produced carlines, Program Management is leading the strategic decision-making and alignment within China and with HQ for all product related topics. 

As Mercedes-Benz steadily increases its localized production vehicle line-up in China, it is faced with the exponentially growing complexity of managing multiple vehicle platforms from business case approval through development into production within a Joint Venture structure. Program Management is responsible for steering the Mercedes-Benz Cars activities in China for the fields of Development, Operations and Sales. 

SPL ensure the alignment for market-specific product requirements from China and steering projects in alignment with all cross-functional project teams.

Main Tasks

1. Cross-functional vehicle project management across Research & Development, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Quality, Production Planning responsibilities
2. Coordinating high level management committees with MB, BMBS and BBAC (Joint Venture Partners) 
3. Tracking decisions and reporting on implementation progress
4. Preparing management presentations for decision
5. Controlling for China Vehicle Projects based on the agreed quality gates
6. Ensuring the pre-alignment of product relevant China topics with all involved departments such as Research & Development, Operations and Sales & Marketing
7. Participation and representation of Platform Management in other committees
 

Qualification

1. Education 
• University bachelor or master degree in mechanical or automotive engineering or technical orientated Business Administration or similar, additional MBA is preferred
• Certified PMP is preferred

2. Experience 
• With minimum 5 years work experience in auto industry
• Work experience in project management role necessary
• Experience with MB.EA-M projects or work experience in Sindelfingen is a huge plus

3. Specific Knowledge
• High motivation and flexibility combined with a high ability to work independently
• Very good organization skills and highly structured working approach
• Ability to steer a carline project at any kind of project phase
• Drive for high quality deliveries under difficult circumstances
• Proficient knowledge in MS-Office especially in PPT and Excel
• Experience in creating high level management summaries and presentations
• Team player Intercultural competence and communication skills with various hierarchy levels are mandatory
• Ability to understand the ‘big picture’ of a carline project from every angle
• Fluent spoken and written English skills  (additional German skills are preferred.
