Objective of job  

As program manager for the full size and large cars in China,  the team is leading the overall project management including strategic decision making and alignment within China and also with HQ for all product related decisions.

The position is responsible for project steering Mercedes-Benz large and full-size passenger car platforms in China by owning defined work packages across project management, business case tracking, cross-functional coordination, and China-specific product initiatives. The role focuses on execution excellence, analytical depth, and reliable decision preparation across strategy, content, cost, timeline, localization, and quality, balancing the magic triangle of project management with clear focus on economical success of the project.

Main tasks

• Timing planning for all large car projects, lead project risk management evaluation
• Cross-functional vehicle project management across Research & Development, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Quality, Production Planning responsibilities) 
• Tracking decisions and reporting on implementation progress
• Preparing management presentations for decision
• Controlling for China Vehicle Projects based on the agreed quality gates
• Ensuring the pre-alignment of product relevant China topics with all involved departments such as Research & Development, Operations and Sales & Marketing
• Participation and representation of Program Management in other committees

 Qualification

• Education

  - Graduated/certified engineer Economics, mechanical engineering Automotive Engineering, technical orientated Business Administration or similar

  - Fluent English skills, German language skills is a plus

• Experience

  - 3 - 5 years working experience within Project Management functions in an international environment with automotive background

  - Equivalent experience with project related tasks in other departments will be considered as well

  - Experience with cost saving programs / knowledge of business case calculation of cost saving measures

  - Experience in MDS, Quality Gate and timeline management
