Pedestrian Protection Engineer
Aufgaben
  • Develop and validate vehicle safety performance for Pedestrian protection, Low-speed crash, Pendulum impact and Bottom scraping from early project phase to series production.
  • Steer simulation, hardware validation and function release activities with all counterparts (incl. Germany) and cross-functional teams, ensuring project milestones, performance targets and release requirements are achieved.
  • Represent the function in vehicle projects and coordinate with simulation, testing, project management, styling, front-end, rear-end, battery, purchasing, production and quality teams.
  • Lead or support cross-functional working groups to solve performance issues, define validation measures and secure correct-status parts for hardware testing.
  • Prepare performance summaries, evaluate compliance with project requirements and maintain required workflows and documentation in the R&D release process
Qualifikationen
  • Education:
    • University degree in mechanical/automotive engineering 
  • Experience
    • More than 5 years working experience in vehicle safety development, specifically in Pedestrian protection, Low-speed crash, Pendulum impact or Bottom scraping functions.
    • Profound experience in function development and validation from concept phase to series production, including target setting, performance tracking, simulation correlation and hardware validation.
    • Experience in CAE result evaluation, test matrix definition and issue analysis for pedestrian protection, low-speed crash and battery scrapping performance.
    • Experience in planning and monitoring hardware tests, coordinating vehicles and parts, and driving issue solving under complex project conditions.
    • Experience in stakeholder, supplier or test laboratory coordination, including preparation tracking, schedule alignment and technical clarification.
    • Experience in R&D release processes, workflow maintenance, reporting and balancing different stakeholder interests.
    • Able to drive project/issue from a complex status with a clear story line for decision making.  
    • Research and benchmark the competitor products on the global market, analysis the concept and structure for MB further optimization aims on higher CNCAP/CIASI rating result, lower cost and better performance. 
  • Specific Knowledge:
    • Professional knowledge of vehicle safety functions related to Pedestrian protection, Low-speed crash, Pendulum impact and Bottom scraping, including relevant performance targets and validation logic.
    • Familiar with related GB standards, CNCAP and CIASI requirements include rating criteria.
    • Professional knowledge of CAE pre- and post-processing, preferably with LS-Dyna, and ability to interpret simulation results, identify risk areas and propose validation countermeasures.
    • Strong communication skills with all counterparts (including Germany), test laboratories, cross-functional teams, joint venture partners and global RD departments.
    • Teamwork spirit, strong intercultural competence, and communication skills with various hierarchy levels
    • Self-responsible working attitude and strong initiative, structured working styles
    • Strong planning, reporting and documentation skills, including preparation of test summaries, performance forecasts and release-related workflows.
    • Structured problem-solving mindset, ability to monitor component changes and assess their impact on function performance across the project lifecycle.
    • Fluent English and Chinese skills, German language skill is a plus.
