China is one of the most important markets for Mercedes-Benz and a key driver of innovation in electric mobility. The rapid development of charging technologies, power electronics integration, and localized supply chains creates significant opportunities and challenges for future vehicle platforms.
The Charging & High Voltage Systems team is responsible for the development, localization, validation, and innovation of high-voltage charging components in China.
A key focus of this position is the technical development of On-Board Charger (OBC) and DC-DC Converter systems for Mercedes-Benz Large Segment platforms.
This role is responsible for defining component requirements, driving supplier development activities, evaluating future technology concepts, and ensuring Mercedes-Benz standards for quality, performance, cost, and timing. The position also serves as a bridge between China innovation ecosystems, suppliers, and global Mercedes-Benz development teams.
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in automotive power electronics development.
- Experience in OBC, DC-DC Converter, PDU, Inverter, or HV charging systems.
- Experience working with automotive suppliers and component development processes.
Experience in BEV/PHEV vehicle programs is preferred.
Specific Knowledge
- Strong understanding of OBC and DC-DC topology, control strategy, and system architecture.
- Knowledge of AC/DC conversion, LLC resonant converters, PFC circuits, SiC/GaN technologies, and power semiconductor applications.
- Familiarity with charging standards and regulations (GB/T, ISO etc.).
- Knowledge of CAN communication and automotive diagnostics; experience with CANoe, CANape, or DTS Monaco preferred.
- Strong supplier management and project management skills, including planning and organizational capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a fact-based working approach.
- Native-level Chinese with fluent English; German language skills are a plus.
- Strong intercultural competence and communication skills across different hierarchy levels.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; valid driving license.
