Job Overview:
The Senior Cybersecurity Architect at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA is responsible for designing and governing secure, scalable, and resilient cybersecurity architectures across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments. The role ensures that security is embedded into all solution designs and digital transformation initiatives, enabling secure cloud adoption, modern application development, and protection of customer, financial, and enterprise data. It provides architectural leadership across key domains including cloud security, identity and access management, data protection, application security, and infrastructure security, while partnering with enterprise architecture, engineering, risk, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. The role defines security reference architectures, evaluates emerging threats, and drives consistent implementation of security controls across platforms. Ultimately, it enables business innovation and cloud transformation while maintaining a strong, risk-balanced security posture across the organization.
International Responsibilities:
This role collaborates closely with the global cybersecurity organization on all Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering topics, representing the Americas region. It serves as a key liaison between regional and global teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise security strategies, standards, and initiatives. The role also works with central security services to coordinate, consume, and integrate architectural services, ensuring consistent implementation of global security frameworks while addressing regional business and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Governance & Application of Global Cybersecurity Standards (20%)
Ensure consistent adoption of global cybersecurity architecture standards across OnPrem and Cloud environments
Translate global security requirements into actionable guidance for regional IT and business teams, ensuring alignment with the organization's security frameworks.
Azure Cloud Security Enablement (20%)
Support secure adoption and operation of workloads in Microsoft Azure, ensuring alignment with global security architecture standards.
Provide guidance on cloud-native security services, secure landing zones, identity controls, and platform configurations to enable secure-by-design cloud implementations.
DevSecOps & Secure SDLC Enablement (15%)
Enable integration of cybersecurity controls into DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines across Azure-based application development.
Ensure security is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) through automated controls, secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and pipeline security validation in alignment with global cybersecurity standards.
Architecture & Security Design Reviews (12%)
Conduct cybersecurity architecture reviews for Azure-based solutions.
Validate compliance with global standards, identify security gaps, and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen cloud security posture.
Security Solution Deployment Support (10%)
Partner with regional IT teams to enable secure deployment of cybersecurity solutions across Azure and hybrid environments.
Ensure consistent implementation of enterprise security controls and architectural guardrails across cloud initiatives.
Global & Regional Cybersecurity Collaboration (8%)
Act as a key liaison between the Americas region and global cybersecurity architecture teams.
Ensure alignment between global security strategy and regional execution while supporting effective communication and feedback loops.
Advisory & Cloud Security Consulting (8%)
Provide cybersecurity advisory support to business and IT stakeholders across cloud transformation and DevSecOps initiatives.
Enable secure-by-design decision-making across Azure workloads and modern digital platforms.
Standards Adoption & Continuous Improvement (7%)
Support adoption of global cybersecurity standards and contribute to continuous improvement of cloud and DevSecOps security practices, ensuring scalability, resilience, and consistency across the enterprise.
Decision Making:
Developing and implementing logical countermeasures to identified security risks. (Daily)
Implementation of architectural standards across the organization. (Daily)
Working with global cybersecurity teams to align risk methodology and security related topics. (Monthly)
Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree is required. Recommended majors include:
- Computer/Information Science, Information Security, Risk Management, Cyber Security
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is required
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) is required
Additional Knowledge:
Strong understanding of enterprise IT architecture and cloud-native architecture patterns in large organizations (7+ years).
Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud security, including identity, network, and workload protection (5+ years).
Solid knowledge of cloud-native technologies such as APIs, microservices, and containerized environments (4–5+ years).
Strong experience in DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices, including CI/CD security integration and automation (4–5+ years).
Advanced knowledge of secure application architecture, including encryption, cryptography, key management, and access control in cloud environments (5+ years).
Experience deploying and managing cybersecurity tools in cloud and hybrid environments (5+ years).
Strong understanding of risk-based decision-making in cloud transformation initiatives (5+ years).
Awareness of emerging cloud and digital technologies and their impact on cybersecurity (3+ years).
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in global and regional matrix organizations (5+ years).
Working knowledge of TOGAF and SABSA applied to cloud environments (3+ years).
