Mercedes-Benz Vans is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Body-in-White (BIW) Geometry/Dimension Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a new, sustainable, and integrated light commercial vehicle production plant in Jawor. As we expand our battery-electric LCV production capacity, we are looking for experts ready to shape the future of automotive manufacturing.
Responsible for the Geometry/Dimensional process in Body-in-White/Body Shop/Welding Shop.
Accountable for parts geometry/dimensional quality.
Analyzing measurement results, identifying the causes of geometric mismatches (process or product problems), and proposing and implementing corrective actions.
Creating and developing measuring control plans and responding to the first signals of loss of geometric and qualitative characteristics.
Setup/Configuration of measuring equipment including calibration
Managing and developing the strategy for BIW geometry operations to ensure that products, processes, and procedures meet corporate standards and compliance regulations.
Cooperation with internal customers like Production, Maintenance, Quality & Engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment, with a focus on geometry/dimensional process management of automotive parts on Welding Shop (OEM or Tire 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
Extensive knowledge of Body-in-White (or Welding Shop) processes dimensional control using advanced on-line and off-line measurement equipment.
Experience with measuring devices such as coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), measuring arms, or laser-optical systems for precise measurement of base points and geometry deviations.
Experience with 2D/3D CAD systems and GD&T norm
Experience in data analysis and problem solving: the ability to analyze measurement results, identify the causes of geometric discrepancies
Excellent knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and their application in a modern automotive production environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, intercultural environment.
Demonstrated analytical skills.
Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing plant is preferred (OEM or Tire 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
Languages: Fluent English; German and Polish are advantageous.
Willingness to travel to other Mercedes-Benz locations for training and knowledge sharing.
Proficiency in problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
