Ensure market readiness for new Mercedes-Benz car driver assistance features in Japan. Be the main source for innovations, developments and trends in this field in Japan.

Test Engineer: Release testing of Mercedes-Benz cars next generation driver assistance systems in Japan
- Preparation of vehicles and setup of measurement equipment
- Route planning and organisation of test drives
- Testing according to local specifics and evaluation of recordings, statistics, test data traces
- Issue and track defect ticket for driver assistance systems
- Issue release recommendations

Development Engineer: Make sure Japan specific requirements are taken into consideration during product development:
- Establish dialogue with MBJ and customers to make sure customer needs are known and taken into consideration when developing and evaluating new functions

Vehicle SW Updates: SW updates (ECU flashing and coding) for driver assistance systems.
- Alignment with counterparts in RD Germany to identify required SW packages.
- Troubleshooting after SW updates and identification of solutions in close exchange with RD Germany.

Competitor Vehicle Benchmarking
- Benchmarking of driver assistance systems of competitor vehicles in the Japanese market

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Training and qualification
- Academic degree in automotive, mechanical or electrical engineering, IT or equivalent education
- English – negotiation level (TOEIC 850 or above, CEFR C1 level) required
- Japanese – fluent in Japanese (must)
- German - language skill desired
- Japanese driver’s license and solid driving experience, safe driving skills
Technical knowledge
- Strong knowledge of radar and camera based driver assistance systems, as well as autonomous driving systems.
- Strong knowledge of Daimler Development Process and vehicle diagnosis tools (Monaco, CANoe)
- Strong knowledge in computer vision and pattern recognition
- Strong knowledge of measurement methods and statistical analysis
- Good understanding of basic technologies for automotive applications (chassis, powertrain, electric & electronic, autonomous drive technology)
Soft skills/individual competence
- Distinct project management skills and good interpersonal and intercultural skills
- Team worker
- Ability to work with limited supervision and guidance
- Pro-active attitude and good problem solving skills.
- Organised mind
- Ability to develop solutions in a non-standardized development environment
- Skills and experience to manage complex projects, Project Management Certification a plus
- Working experience with Western (preferably German) companies and good knowledge of Western working culture – already existing network within the company or R&D would be an advantage
- High enthusiasm for automotive industry and tech industry
Experience
- 3 years working experience in Automotive industry or related technical field
- At least 2 years experience testing software systems and components
- Solid experience (>3 years) in working in an intercultural environment
