Job Description
Serve as a closure parts engineer to lead/participate closure system and automotive body development and localization project for Mercedes-Benz production lines.
Support the full-lifecycle technical management of closure and accessory parts from concept design, series design, prototype verification to mass production.
Support the definition of the technical solution according to target from project premise and design specification (FLH, SLH, KLH)
Work together with BIW structure, OVD, PLE and other team to fulfil the requirement of function, package and testing team requirements during Design engineering for China unique content development.
Ensure the data release to match digital development milestone, as well as the function release and PVP&R release to match project milestone during launch phase.
Responsible for technical management include technical review with supplier, technical explanation and clarification with supplier, production planning and pilot plants, keep design synchronization with headquarter departments.
Support supplier nomination process, track the part maturity, testing and delivery progress of supplier parts, and promote suppliers to carry out technical improvement and cost optimization.
Support component availability and maturity for complete vehicle test like winter test, summer test and durability test.
Responsible on the issue solving during development and hardware phase
Achieve innovation-driven closure system targets for appearance, function, quality, cost and weight.
Accumulate the lessons learnt from daily work and project for continue optimization on product, project and working method.
Qualification
- Education
- University degree in mechanical or automotive engineering - Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ development experience in Hood/Frunk, Tailgate/Trunklid and body accessory like Hinge, locking, spindle drive in OEMs or suppliers - Specific Knowledge
- Be familiar with the structural principle, design specifications, development process and industry technology trends of automobile closure systems and master the performance requirements and selection standards of core components of closure systems (such as closure locks, hinges, regulators, etc.)
- Have strong ability to develop alternative components/ solutions for series projects with lower cost and keep all surrounding parts/system no change
- Have good project management ability, cross-departmental and supplier communication and coordination ability as well as team leadership awareness, be able to effectively coordinate internal and external resources to promote project implementation and have strong pressure resistance.
- Possess solid professional knowledge in mechanical design, structural mechanics, material performance, etc. Proficiency in 3D design software such as NX, as well as Smaragd, will be advantage for the experience that independently complete the structural design and performance simulation of closure systems
- Be familiar with relevant laws, regulations and standards in the automobile industry (such as C-NCAP, C-IASI, NVH, waterproof and dustproof, etc.), have rich experience in closure system test and verification, and be able to formulate test plans, analyze test data and put forward improvement measures
- Be responsible and rigorous in work, be able to work under pressure, have strong awareness on innovation and continuous learning ability, and be able to adapt to the rapid development rhythm of the automobile industry - Intercultural competence and communication skills with various hierarchy levels and joint venture partners
- Very good Chinese and English language skills, German language beneficial
