Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Talent & Performance, the Program Lead, Leadership Development, is responsible for the strategy and execution of leadership development initiatives at MBUSA. Key responsibilities include designing program curricula for various stages of leadership and identifying additional development needs to guide and prepare leaders for transition into roles of greater responsibility. This role works in tandem with the Manager, Talent & Performance, as high-potentials and company needs are identified to support organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development
• Design, implement, and manage leadership development initiatives that build, strengthen, and sustain a pipeline of high performing leaders across the organization.
• Serve as the internal Leadership & Development subject-matter expert, creating, curating, and maintaining relevant tools, content, and learning materials that empower leaders and reinforce core capability expectations.
• Establish clear success measures and tools leaders can use to drive accountability and track development progress within their teams
• Lead marketing and communication strategies to support program rollout, visibility, and engagement
• Create innovative, “blended” development programs (training, simulations, assessments, projects, etc.) to support talent mobility & leadership development aligned with long-range business strategies
• Assist in identifying specific populations and resources for development programs (i.e. aspiring leaders, 1-Step/Ready, women leaders, etc.)
• Assess build-vs-buy opportunities, identifying when programs can be developed internally or when external vendor partnerships are needed to meet business objectives.
• Manage external vendors to ensure high quality program delivery, including sourcing, contracting, budgeting, performance oversight, and alignment with MBUSA standards and strategic priorities
• Engage key stakeholders and senior leaders to understand organizational leadership gaps, capability needs, and strategic priorities, ensuring programs directly address business challenges
• Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive New Supervisor and New Manager training program for newly promoted leaders managing people for the first time, ensuring they gain the foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead effectively
• Stay current on leadership development trends, research, and best practices, proactively integrating new insights to elevate program quality and impact
Manager Support/Coaching Research, assess, recommend, and evaluate leadership development solutions for achieving optimum employee and organizational performance
• Manages and oversee the new supervisor and leader program
• Support individual leadership development needs through 360 feedback and coaching
• Provide new leader and team assimilations in partnership with HRBP input
Internal Consulting & Partnerships
• Serve as a consultant to Talent Development team and HRBPs on individual and team coaching/ development needs
• Partner with Manager, Talent & Performance on assessment needs
• Provide NAFTA support, as applicable
Administrative Tasks
• Create and maintain dashboards tracking completion rates, attendance, engagement, and outcomes
• Analyze program effectiveness using participation data, assessment scores, and manager feedback to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor talent pipeline data to track progression of Ready, 1-Step, and Promising Talent groups,
• Manage program calendars, timelines, and cohort schedules, ensuring alignment with annual leadership offerings
• Coordinate session logistics, including room reservations, catering, virtual meeting links, technology setup, and participant materials.
Oversee enrollment and registration, managing nomination lists and confirming attendance
• Develop communication for program rollouts
• Identify and manage vendor resources within budget constraints
• Maintain up-to-date leadership training and development content on the social intranet
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
• Understanding of leadership and talent development models, frameworks and tools to increase organizational and leadership effectiveness
• Experience developing and facilitating leadership and management development programs
• Exhibits leadership presence and confidence
• Excels in a fast-paced, service-centric environment managing multiple projects
• Strong business acumen including problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration across multiple functions and departments
• Adept at handling multiple competing priorities in a results-driven, rapidly changing environment
• Ability to establish trust and a reputation for discretion, sound judgment and advice
• Capacity to effectively initiate relationships and build rapport with senior leadership
• Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation/facilitation
• Skilled in creating a strategic framework that integrates the “big picture” with tactical execution
• Exhibits an “ownership” mentality, taking full accountability for projects, with ability to work autonomously with little supervision
• Strong teamwork and partnering skills in support of the mission, vision and values of MBUSA and the Talent Development team
Education
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology or related field
• 5- 7 years leadership development or related experience; talent management and succession planning preferred
