Job Overview

The position is part of the North America Finance Operations team within MBUSA providing accounting services to the Mercedes-Benz North America companies. The position is responsible for executing Mercedes-Benz North America Research and Development North America’s (MBRDNA) financial reporting, overall general accounting processes (fixed assets, accruals, monthly closing), as well as overseeing processes executed by the Shared Service Center Team (Accounts Payable

 

Responsibilities

·       Ensure accurate & timely closing of financial statements by posting all journal entries, accruals, and re-classes for month end close.

·       Lead the Fixed Asset capitalization processes, including documentation of asset capitalization dates, timely depreciation, and reconciling fixed asset related accounts.

·       Prepare monthly financial statements and submit to Germany.

·       Execute sales & use tax reconciliations and payments.

·       Timely execution of all financial reporting requests from parent company.

 

Qualifications

Minimum level of education required and required field of study: Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting, Finance

 

Minimum skills required:  

•    Strong accounting skills, great attention to detail.
•    General proficient knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization
•    Proficient knowledge of internal controls, recording and reporting of financial transactions, and summarization of financial statements. 
•    Knowledge and understanding of the implications of key financial indicators and controls and assessing impact of financial information.
•    Solid analytical skills and ability to communicate with teams across various departments.
•    When fully trained, this individual must develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the following:

o    Company policies, procedures and Software that is applicable to the job (SAP, MIF).
o    Company goals and vision.
o    Departmental practices and procedures. 
o    Interdepartmental relationships and their effect on the company, departmental and individual goals.

 

Minimum years of experience recommended: 3-5 years    

 

Additional Information 

•    CPA is a plus
•    Knowledge of SAP highly preferred
