We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Technical Architect who leads the transition of our legacy mainframe applications to modern architectures. This role involves planning, executing, and overseeing the migration process, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations while enhancing system performance and maintainability.
· Develop and maintain the overall architecture strategy for mainframe applications.
· Design scalable, reliable, and secure mainframe solutions that meet business needs.
· Develop a comprehensive migration strategy, including timelines, resources, and risk management.
· Design comprehensive modernization roadmaps that outline key phases, timelines, and resource allocations.
· Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and clarify functional and non-functional requirements.
· Assess the impact of new technologies and processes on existing systems.
· Lead the design of system integrations and data flows between mainframe and modern platforms.
· Ensure that solutions adhere to best practices in performance, security, and compliance.
· Identify suitable technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, microservices, APIs) to replace or enhance legacy systems.
· Work closely with development teams, providing architectural guidance and ensuring adherence to design principles.
· Lead the migration activities, coordinating with development, testing, and operations teams.
· Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Provide expertise in refactoring and optimizing legacy codebases.
· Experience in software development in mainframe languages (COBOL, PL/1, Assembler, JCL,REXX)
· Good Hands on Experience of CA-ADS programming Language in developing the online and Batch applications.
· Good Experience in Mainframe Migration Projects using tools like Astadia, AWS Blu Insights.
· Good Exposure on Relational Database DB2, Oracle and SQL.
· Very Good Working Knowledge on Utility Programs SORT, MERGE and JCL PROC.
· Exposure to Performance Monitoring using tools like Instana, Dynatrace.
· Proven experience in performance tuning and optimization of batch processing and OLTP environments.
· Strong knowledge of file systems, including VSAM file structures and efficient data handling.
· Proficiency in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes and tools.
· Experience with mainframe debugging and productivity tools such as XPEDITER, File-AID, Endevor, REXX, and SORT.
· Skills in deploying and managing applications in containerized environments.
· Experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs to integrate legacy systems with modern applications.
· Experience in modern languages commonly used in application development like Java, Python.
· Familiarity with cloud services for deploying modernized applications.
· Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to automate deployment and testing processes.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Proven experience in modernizing mainframe applications, with a strong understanding of both legacy and modern technologies.
· Familiarity with mainframe technologies (e.g., COBOL, CICS, DB2) and contemporary programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, .NET).
· Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, serverless).
