Organizational Context and Team Structure

Mercedes-Benz AG is a leading automotive company focusing on technological transformation through software and platforms. MBRDI contributes to this vision by covering domains such as Research Development, Sales & Marketing, After Sales, Finance, and HR, encompassing the full value chain of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The Senior Program Manager will lead an IT team of about 15-20 technical professionals forming the ‘Mercedes-Benz Tech India’ team, part of the global IT tech network ("Home of Tech") within ITH/IG.

Responsible for leading & managing a team HR application development teams within T4P India

The team portfolios include:

  • Software Engineering: Development & maintenance of software products facilitating HR process.

 

1.        Communication and Stakeholder Interaction

The role requires constant, frequent, and occasional communication with internal and external stakeholders, including managers, employees, team members, corporate functions (Finance, HR, Facilities), MBRDI suppliers, and candidates. Communication aims to ensure alignment with business strategies, project updates, and stakeholder satisfaction.

2.       Key Responsibilities and Task Distribution

The role’s main tasks are categorized with approximate time allocation:

·       Steering and executing projects aligned with MBAG IT Strategy.

·       Team building, architectural design, and end-to-end project delivery.

·       Leading technology teams to meet business deliverables with quality and timeliness.

·       Driving business growth through project and resource expansion.

·       Leading change management and acting as a change agent.

·       Facilitating cross-functional collaboration and fostering co-creation culture.

·       Maintaining stakeholder satisfaction through regular communication and trust-building.

3. People Management and Compliance

·       Talent acquisition, coaching, development, and career management.

·       Building a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and psychological safety.

·       Financial stewardship through budget and manpower planning.

·       Ensuring compliance with statutory and internal policies.

Compliance and Commitment

The jobholder must ensure adherence to all group and location rules, including compliance regulations, safety, data protection, work safety, environmental regulations, and working hours.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: B.E. (any field) or any technical degree with IT specialization.
  • Experience: Must have an overall experience of 15-18 years with at least 3-4 years’ experience in leading & managing teams.
  • Expertise in managing projects with growth impact & digitalization initiatives using KPIs.
  • Innovation contribution and intercultural awareness, promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in driving application roadmap from demand management to implementation.
  • Trusted advisor capabilities with proactive communication on operational status, risks, and issues.
  • Product conceptualization using design thinking, business canvas, and open-source approaches.
  • Leadership in internal consulting, stakeholder management, cost optimization, vendor management, and adherence to Mercedes-Benz IT governance and methodologies.
  • Promoting continuous improvement and innovation, participation in data communities, and organizational initiatives.
  • Must be a strong team player and lead by example - Ready to roll up sleeves and manage the situation on the ground
  • Experience working in an onsite/offshore working model, strong coordination and project management skills, ability to see a big picture and drive organizational initiatives

 

Specific Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have strong experience in hands on development and delivery of custom developed software & enterprise integrations in a Project Manager / Delivery Lead capacity
  • Must have strong hands on technology solutioning experience & people management skills
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, custom development tech tools (Java, Python, .Net) & ITSM processes is a must.
  • Strong experience in senior stakeholder management, driving technical roadmaps, preparing technical proposals & representing on architecture forums
  • An understanding of HR domain is a plus
  • Passionate about delivering well designed solutions that exceeds business objectives and drives business success
