Job Overview:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Intern provides the best possible support by assisting with all aspects of quality, production and helping to ensure that the department runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve quality by supporting the problem solving process and work hand in hand with the failure analyzing team
  • Perform root cause analysis and statistics
  • Participation and documentation of shop floor and project meetings
  • Tracking internal quality regarding Q-Release and failure management
  • Improvement and tracking of the failure analyzing process
  • Organization and moderation of the Q-Controlling committee called Quality-Forum
  • Cross departmental cooperation for planning, organization and execution of E-/Q-Releases
  • Provide direct assistance to the MBV Environmental Engineer
  • Introduction to environmental management in manufacturing
  • Facilitate ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System requirements
  • Maintain ISO 14001:2015 systems
  • Develop leadership abilities in a work team environment
  • Participate in environmental Training sessions
  • Conduct environmental inspections and samplings
  • Daily tracking of production and supplier claims
  • Minimize part defects in the line with the parts Quality Engineers and ensure clean point
  • Support Quality Engineers by inspecting material for the release (PPAP) of parts
  • Reading and interpretation of manufacturing drawings
  • Training on quality processes
  • Assist where needed by the department or other areas
Qualifications
  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma. Having participated within the past 12 months or currently working towards a 2 or 4 year degree is required to participate in the intern program.
  • Public speaking and strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Desire to continuously improve environmental programs
  • Strong science and math background
  • Interest or experience in environmental management and sustainability
  • Interest in biodiversity

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a Ladson, South Carolina based production entity that produces Sprinter as well as eSprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. Dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today, the MBV facility provides more than 1,700 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. Representing an additional nearly $60 million investment, MBV Charleston was selected to be the first plant in the Mercedes-Benz Vans global production network to produce the all-new eSprinter, beginning in 2024. Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston also continues investing in the local community with over $1,900,000 dollars donated to local non-profits & schools via STEM programs since 2006 and over 900 volunteer hours.

Since 2006, more than 350,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. In 2021, the plant celebrated its 15-year legacy of SKD production in South Carolina. 2023 marked a plant milestone with a record-setting over 50,000 vans produced. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans after Germany.
