Objective of job (abbreviated)
The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing digital product ideas to drive business growth at Mercedes-Benz China. Working within cross-functional teams, the PO identifies and prioritizes business needs, translates them into product visions, and manages requirements from both user and technical perspectives.
Key responsibilities include conducting market and customer research, coordinating development using agile methodologies, and ensuring alignment between stakeholders and the development team. The PO oversees prototype testing, gathers user feedback, and supports the resolution of issues. At each project phase, the PO reports progress and outcomes to Management, ensuring continuous improvement and delivery of high-quality digital solutions.
Qualification
o Education
University degree with a combination of business, economics, product development, marketing, and communications or related fields
o Experience
- 5+ years of experience in research, business consulting, business development, marketing, or related areas, preferably in the fields of digital services or product development
- Proven strong market research skills, business development abilities and customer/ users’ needs finding
- Strong experience in product testing and validation of business needs by testing the product with real customers
- Experience in analyzing markets, business opportunities, user needs, user research, product testing
- Experience in identifying business requirements in the development of minimal viable products
- Experience in business cases analysis
- Experience in a start-up, product development, prototyping/ or innovation/ or similar environment with a multifaceted context
- Experience in managing projects and being the single point of contact for customers
- Prior experience in SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
Plus: good to have working experience in multi-national company or multi-cultural environment
o Specific Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge in conducting business trend analysis, customer and market research, and presenting the results afterwards
- Strong expertise in testing concepts and prototypes with customers, execution and evaluation including detailed result analysis, and giving concrete next steps advice
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle as well as expert knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices. Be able to combine them in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
- Describe and apply the agile approach to managing and prioritising requirements . Understand how to test, estimate and evaluate value delivery in an agile project.
- Understand the mechanisms for facilitation and support within an Agile project
- Passion & familiarity with working with designers and developers
- Ability to prioritize backlog and next steps to ensure the team to deliver the most valuable items.
- Ability to participate in strategic discussions, work in areas outside of comfort zone, and work quickly to get things done
- Good team spirit and attention to detail, ability to work with different business units in a collaborative mindset, adaptability and strong inter-personal, communication & negotiation skills.
- Good presentation, including excellent skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Excellent command of spoken and written Chinese and English, German is a plus

• Research different Markets, Trends, Society & Technologiess based on direction and needs
• Attend exclusive industry events to gain scope insight from leading experts / Exclusive events insights also ensure team participation in events / workshops
• Follow methods like design thinking and others to understand customer needs, authentic demands and other user needs of potential digital services and products
• Deliver research findings & conclusions to team, Mgmt. and Stakeholders
2. Market, Trends, Socicty, Technology and Product Scouting
• Research different Markets, Trends, Society & Technologiess based on direction and needs

3. Product Development and Testing
• Based on concept, create Business Plan and Business cases for digital products and services
• Based on need for testing, define testing strategy, approach and prepare the product/service testing
• Execute product testing
• Draw report with results and recommendations for next steps
• Help with executing the next steps in Development and the next iteration in testing
4. Communication
• Act as an ambassador for the Customer Platform team to all outside parties and ensuring regular external communication
• Maintain timely communication with all stakeholders •
