Job Overview:

Supports the Quality Management System, and ensure processes are implemented to support our IATF and ISO standards.

Plans, supports and performs internal process audits and provides support on corrective actions, and opportunities for

improvement. Supports in the external certification audits for QMS systems by analyzing, prioritizing, achieving on time

requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the fulfillment of all requirements of the certification entity for the periodic confirmation of the certificate (according to 

    ISO IATF 16949 and VDA) and further development of the process-based quality management (QM) system.

  • Evaluates conformity and improvement of documentation, including review and distribution of new and revised MBV policies 

    and procedures and monitors implementation.

  • Support plant management, the quality management officer and the audited function in the effective and controlled handling of 

    business processes.

  • Supports implementation of different objectives of the Charleston Plant with respect to process orientation, economic 

    efficiency, etc. in the plant-wide systems, processes and projects.

  • Alignment with the other plant sites with respect to specifications, processes, tools, etc. Responsible for standardizing quality 

    management system with other locations within the organization.

  • assures customer satisfaction for both our internal and external customers by maintaining and improving both systems. Assess 

    circumstances, suggests variations in approaches, and incomplete or conflicting data.

  • Supports the organization and conduction of internal process audits, and on-demand audits.

  • Investigates and eliminates causes of systemic quality problems and is responsible for following up on corrective actions with 

    support of other Process Auditors. May provide recommendations on corrective actions and deviations.

  • Supports the development, testing, implementation, and training of new IT applications in the Quality department during 

    introduction and upgrades.

  • May coordinate and lead small sized projects

  • Participates in regular scheduled meetings

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills 

  • EOQ auditor, statistical methods, QM methods, environmental auditor, project management

  • · Excellent knowledge of process chains at the site, rationalization and project methods, advanced knowledge of 

    database systems, languages (written and spoken German/English, knowledge of Spanish)

  • · Certification in ISO and IATF 16949

  • · Working knowledge of ISO/IATF 16949, or VDA6 Management system is preferred

  • · Flexibility to work night / split shift, weekends, as required

  • · Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization (Horizontal and vertical).

Qualifications
  • · Bachelors Degree in relevant field required, Masters preferred.

  • · 3 years' audit experience (internal and/or external)

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 200,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. Therefore, MBV celebrates a 15-year legacy of SKD production in 2021. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
