The OVD (Overall Vehicle Design) is defining the vehicle architecture and response the geometrical integration of all related systems, modules, and components to a consistent overall vehicle (packaging).

Target is to reach the overall optimum regarding function, design, ergonomics, weight, and costs plus the fulfilment of assembly, crash and service requests.

The OVD reflects in a moderating role the central hub in the design process. OVD creates as working base for all design processes in RD a continuously current DMU (Digital Mock Up) as digital image of the vehicle and all components.

In the strategy phase OVD defines the dimensional concept covering the interior and exterior requirements from marketing and sales, to reach the benchmark position in Chinese Market.

In the early developing phase OVD creates feasible and competitive concept with input from platform organization, marketing, the rest of RD department and production. OVD prepares hardware and digital mockups to validate concepts, aligns with relative stakeholders to continuously optimize the product and ensure the customer readiness of solution.

In the next development step OVD is responsible that all positionings of packaging relevant

components are realized with the specific clearance request regarding part and functions in between.

Following the milestones of the MDS processes the packaging evaluation and release of the components has to be finalized.

Qualification 

• Passion for the automotive business, Proven self-confidence
• University degree in engineering major or comparable education
• Automotive engineering experience and knowledge of automotive development processes
• Ergonomics, Packaging and Dimensional concept experience
• Strong international communication skills in English (very good) and German (preferred but not mandatory)
• Eagerness to take over responsibility is reflected in a self-reliant work style
• Creative but analytical thinking
• Professional presentation to management
• Siemens NX (preferred)
• Siemens Teamcenter / Engineering client (preferred)
