We are seeking a technical expert to lead the certification and regulatory alignment for Software Update Management Systems (SUMS) in the Chinese market. This role focuses on ensuring our vehicles meet the GB 44496 regulation for both OTA and wired updates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Alignment & Vehicle Preparation

• Interpret GB 44496 regulations alongside the Regulation Team to derive specific test cases.
• Clarify and align test scopes and execution strategies with the official Inspection Body.

• Coordinate vehicle preparation and technical troubleshooting with Carline Owners and lab teams.

   

2. Pre-Testing & Validation

• Execute internal pre-tests on test cars and benches to validate inspection requirements.
• Identify technical blockers, flagging issues to stakeholders to secure necessary fixes.
• Manage the logistics of shipping validated vehicles to the Inspection Body for official testing.

3. Official SUMS Testing & Documentation

• Oversee onsite official testing, selecting representative ECUs per domain to complete all SUMS cases.
• Perform Delta SUMS testing for configuration changes across different vehicle models.
• Compile final test reports and maintain comprehensive SUMS documentation and configuration records.
• Conduct change evaluations and justifications based on established assessment criteria (FEZ/BTV/SV models).

4. Strategic Coordination

• Manage China Cross-Border Transfer (CCBT) topics for OTA backend systems between China and global teams.
• Support model filing and authority requests related to software updates.
• Act as the China-specific subject matter expert for global teams regarding SUMS and other OTA related regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

   

• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of vehicle Software Update architectures, UDS (ISO 14229), R156 and Diagnostics.
• Experience: Proven track record in automotive certification, specifically with Chinese GB standards and SUMS.
• Languages: Full professional proficiency in English and Chinese is mandatory.
• Skills: Strong technical understanding, strong stakeholder management skills to navigate complex coordination between internal R&D, global teams, and external government authorities.
