Job Overview:

Responsible for definition and control of the Production order in the all production areas, considering economic factors, orders and schedule. Oversees order management of the aggregates and parts-planning and the preparation of daily and monthly production programs with the aim of an economic and timely vehicle production. Ensures coordination with departments, sister plants, sales organization and suppliers.

  Responsibilities:
  • Lead the team ensuring manufacturing capacity, scheduling and operations, in coordination with the sales and areas of production to create the monthly production program.
  • Analyze and optimize the existing operational sequence. Evaluate opportunities for optimization and prepare with necessary specified measures and standards
  • Develops and monitors inventory control systems to ensure adequate planning
  • Provide guidance and lead team to create and develop concepts for optimization of the control processes
  • Identify, escalate and discuss problems that occur in the production process (such as missing parts, short-term breakdown of equipment, etc.) and perform the troubleshooting
  • Develop and implement communication and objectives with sales organization
  • Provide alternate plans for abnormal conditions, including, but not limited to, work stoppages at a supplier, material shortages, rejections, new priorities, etc. to ensure production numbers
  • Support and implement of all approved KAEMs/AEF’s for SKD VS20, SKD VS30 and PbP VS30.
  • Ensure the timely provision of the plausible control documents. Determine the start-up numbers / vehicle planning in direct coordination with the order center
  • Provide and present planning/data to senior management and divisional operation
  • Liaise with functional or operational area managers to align on program and sequences
  • Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings
  • Will perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or in a related Engineering field.  Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in managing teams in a lean manufacturing environment and in the field of Supply Chain Management and/ or Supplier Quality. Specific areas of interest are logistics, procurement, order management, supplier development, and supplier quality.
  • Distinct knowledge of Parts Supplier processes and issues. Knowledge of the product and parts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management, executive/senior staff
  • Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools. Disciplined, objective and detail oriented.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location. 

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. Representing an additional nearly $60 million investment, MBV Charleston was selected to be the first plant in Mercedes-Benz Vans global production network to produce the all-new eSprinter, beginning in the second half of 2023.   

More than 300,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. In 2021, the plant celebrated its 15-year legacy of SKD production in South Carolina. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
