Here's the role at a glance that might be beneficial for you to know :
- Manage a team of collections across early and late delinquency stages, including oversight of repossession, remarketing and post write-off recoveries to ensure collections in accordance with market targets and regulations set for the markets Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
- Set collections operations productivity targets and monitors individual achievements of internal agents and outsourced vendors via scorecard (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
- Planning, evaluating, implementing, and continuously improving all aspects of collections functions and processes with digitalization and innovation.
- Ensure development of team through regular assessments and training.
- Ensure support for external/ internal audits and develop internal audit mechanism to manage business risk.
Further roles and responsibilities :
- Supervision of and participation in the early and late collections activities
- Review and reduce delinquency levels for defaulted accounts
- Monitor and train staff to achieve the target goals and conduct default-handling trainings for Collection team.
- Review performance and activities of internal agents and manage the performance of third-party vendors and ensure proper management of account receivables by minimizing credit losses of current portfolio and maximizing debt recovery
- Meet up with customers and liaise with lawyers on legal matters
- To ensure that timely filing of legal cases thereby protecting the interest of the company.
- Manage end-to-end repossession lifecycle, including vendor performance, customer communication, and dispute handling.
- Coordinate with auction houses or direct buyers for vehicle remarketing of repossessed/returned vehicles.
- Liaise with valuators on valuation of the repossessed/returned vehicles and maximize sales proceeds through pricing strategies and reserve price setting within targeted time frame. Also assist the restructuring of accounts with customer communication and internal alignments, where applicable.
- Analyze delinquency trends, recovery performance and portfolio risk for the markets in scope.
- Prepare regular management reports with actionable insights (e.g. monthly Delinquency Report/Corporate Customer Risk report to Regional Office, hard trigger events/ Watchlist/ Problem credit reports). To prepare shortfall report and submit monthly write-off reports for management approval.
- Manage shortfall accounts and preparation of the shortfall of statement of account.
- Meet up customer and negotiate on loss recovery and repayment arrangement and ensure timely issuance of default notice, termination letters and legal handovers when required.
- Proceed with legal proceedings against shortfall customers and prepare and submit write-off report to Management for approval.
- Oversee recovery strategies for written-off accounts including legal recoveries and settlement and monitor cost-effectiveness of recovery strategies and renegotiation outcomes.
- Effectively monitor and review the repayment of the restructure accounts and strict control over the delinquency management and escalate recovery action i.e repossession and legal action.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree preferable in Business, Finance, Management or any other related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in collections, credit risk, or asset recovery, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Knowledge in default handling, remarketing of repossessed /returned vehicles and shortfall management, remarketing experiences and Dealer Networking.
- Familiarity with legal recovery processes and vendor contracts is a strong advantage.

- Process knowledge : Collection Processes, Legal Processes, Remarketing Processes and Loss Recovery Processes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills and excellent negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Professional & Interpersonal skills: Good customer services experiences, problem solving skill, analytical thinking, results-oriented, quick and strong learning and teaching ability.
- High level of integrity and compliance awareness.
- Language skills: Fluent in spoken and written English and Malay.
