Job Title: IP Strategist - Car Software and Electric Mobility 

Role: The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by rapid technological advancements and evolving intellectual property landscapes. As an IP Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our innovation strategy within the autonomous driving, electric mobility and key car software and hardware domains. Leveraging your deep understanding of technology, business acumen, and advanced patent research skills, you will provide critical insights to guide strategic IP creation and innovation management. Your continuous monitoring of the competitive landscape will enable leadership to identify innovation whitespace, define key problem areas, and benchmark our progress against strategic innovation goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Patent Portfolio Development:
    • Collaborate closely with R&D leaders and engineers to proactively identify and prioritize high-value patent creation opportunities aligned with the organization's strategic roadmap.
    • Drive initiatives to enhance the quality and strategic relevance of the patent portfolio, focusing on key areas within electric mobility and car software.
  • Competitive Intelligence, Whitespace Identification and Market Analysis:
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of the competitive IP landscape, including patent landscaping, whitespace analysis, and technology trend identification.
    • Perform comprehensive market research and benchmarking to generate actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
    • Identify emerging technologies and potential disruptive innovations within electric mobility and car software.
  • Project Management
    • End-to-end execution and ownership of IP Intelligence and market research projects, designing research methodologies and driving research studies in response to specific problem statements from engineering groups.
  • Innovation Management and Business Alignment:
    • Provide strategic recommendations based on IP and market intelligence to support product innovation and development.
    • Develop and implement strategies to align IP initiatives with business objectives and drive strategic innovation.
Qualifications

Experience / Skillset:

  • Mandatory:
    • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in analyzing patents and market data specific to established and emerging technology domains, with a strong focus on automotive, electric mobility, and software.

§  Expertise in patent landscaping, whitespace analysis, and competitive IP intelligence.

§  Demonstrated ability to identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and specific innovation opportunities.

§  Strong experience in designing and executing technology scouting and market research projects.

  • Strongly preferred:
    • Exposure to AI/ML model development, ADAS, cloud computing, battery management systems, embedded software, data analytics, connected cars, UI/UX, OTA, and cybersecurity.
    • Strong understanding of the automotive industry, particularly in electric mobility and car software; Domain knowledge of e-drive, battery , charging, e-motors, different powertrain configurations is strongly desirable.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to design and execute complex research projects.

Qualifications – Education / Certificates

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • An MBA or equivalent management certification, or certification in innovation management (e.g., Design Thinking, TRIZ), is highly desirable.
