Job Overview:

Mercedes-Benz North America (MBNAC) seeks to hire a Government Affairs Specialist in its Washington, D.C office. Working with the External Affairs team, this individual will play a key role monitoring legislation and policy developments for impact on company operations and advocating company positions on key legislative and regulatory priority issues.  The Government Affairs Specialist is also responsible for providing leadership on internal communications, including materials development, planning and executing
events/programs, representing the company before trade and membership organizations and supporting the day-to-day operations of the office.  Above all this individual will be comfortable in a role that will require multitasking, creativity, and a willingness to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

At Mercedes-Benz Government Affairs is core business, and this role is a key member of the team.
 

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
Legislative & Regulatory Monitoring
•    Track federal legislation, regulations, and policy developments. 
•    Analyze potential impacts on company operations and business priorities. 
•    Help develop and communicate company positions on policy issues. 
Government & External Relations
•    Support advocacy efforts with policymakers, agencies, and stakeholders. 
•    Represent the company in trade associations and membership organizations. 
•    Build and maintain relationships with external partners and internal teams across the company. 
Internal Communications 
•    Develop briefing materials, presentations and talking points.
•    Coordinate internal communications related to public policy initiatives. 
•    Support planning and execution of events, programs, and stakeholder engagements. 
Office & Team Operations
•    Support day-to-day operations of the Washington, D.C. office. 
•    Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, communications, business, and leadership teams.
 

Qualifications

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 4 years of experience in a trade association, corporate or in Government. Previous experience in the auto industry or transportation sector a plus.
  • Background on policy issues of significance to the auto industry, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, energy and environment, innovation, trade, transportation, technology (AVs), vehicle safety and workforce.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized; strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills, advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and other platforms.
  • Self-starter and team player who is interested in the auto industry.
