Job Summary:
Leads the safe, efficient, reliable operation of all Energy Center equipment and responds to all emergency conditions of the Utility Plant. Energy Center Operator Technician (ECOT) is proficient in using troubleshooting tools, process knowledge, piping diagrams, electrical prints, vendor's manuals and operating procedures to quickly eliminate any downtime. The ECOT is also an important member of emergency response protocol including responding to fire alarms in all buildings, silencing alarms and maintaining fire protection equipment per NFPA. This position will be based on rotating 12 hour shifts (rotating between days and nights) and persons in this role will be expected to be a part of the Hurricane Onsite Ride Out Team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate all energy, utility and fire protection systems to include:
- 7 and 10 Bar Air Compressors, dryers and associated valves
- Weld water system including multiple pumps, tanks and coolers
- Cooling tower and associated pump and motors
- Chillers and associated pumps and motors
- Gas fired water boilers and associated equipment
- Air supply units for paint shop including filtering systems, pumps, piping and valves
- Roof top units for body shop, assembly plant and the admin building
Perform highly complex Utility Plant Systems troubleshooting which are varied and non-routine
Lead Incident investigations utilizing "5 whys" to eliminate issues
Start/Stop equipment as required, and keep a log of the same
Perform emergency isolation of site Fire Protection Loop
NFPA required run test for fire water pumps and associated required systems testing
Respond and assist Plant Security in fire alarm events
Operate, monitor, and manage Building Management System (computer based control system for all Facilities operated equipment)
Accountable for efficient operation of Energy Center. Recommend modification to SOPs.
Enter work orders in CMMS system, and prioritize emergency work
Monitor and responds to 24x7x365 Facilities Help Desk support line
Hurricane "Ride Out" team member with onsite shelter in place in a State of Emergency
Shift log of all reported or investigated events and disposition
Perform Lock out Tag out
Provides guidance, coaching and direction to more junior team members of the team
May modify existing processes, methods, and approaches
Participate in regular scheduled meetings
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5-10 years for experience in a facilities related field
- Able to perform essential functions of the job
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge in Hot Water Boiler operation and Refrigeration cycle
- Ability to read blueprints/P&ID drawings/electrical schematics
- Must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Software package (Word/Excel) for communication/reporting functions
