Who We Are

We design smart and innovative IT solutions for the global and complex processes of the Mercedes‑Benz Vans. As a Technical Product Owner and Data & AI Engineer, you will take end‑to‑end responsibility from day one — covering the analysis, planning and implementation of business requirements in our applications

You will collaborate closely with experts from the business departments as well as with internal and external service providers. Your Responsibilities

The position of Technical Product Owner Data & AI Engineer encompasses the technical design, implementation, and continuous development of Data & AI use cases. This role requires close collaboration with business units, Data and Platform Engineers within IT, as well as external service providers.
The primary responsibility is to capture business requirements and translate them into scalable and reliable products, thereby generating sustainable value from data.
The role makes a significant contribution to the strategic design of the future Data, AI, and Generative AI landscape.

1. Technical Design and Implementation

• Design, implementation, and continuous development of scalable, reliable, and maintainable Data & AI use cases.

• Definition of the required infrastructures (data pipelines, resources, platforms) in close collaboration with Platform and Data & AI Engineers.

• Orchestration and implementation (DevOps) of use cases within defined frameworks, preferably in cloud environments (especially Azure).
• Ensuring monitoring and testing of implemented use cases.
• Guaranteeing cost-optimized implementation of Data & AI use cases (FinOps).

2. Data Ingestion and Provisioning

• Onboarding of data (ETL processes) and active contribution to the development of data products.
• Development of Data Products in close collaboration with Data consumers.
• Responsibility for data quality, completeness, and validity towards the business departments.

3. Collaboration & Innovation

• Leadership of projects in the areas of Big Data, Advanced Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence – from concept to rollout.
• Close collaboration with Data & AI Engineers, Platform Engineers, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to analyze requirements and integrate Data & AI solutions.
• Steering of agile, interdisciplinary teams.
• Active contribution to and dissemination of best practices and technical expertise.

4. Documentation & Communication

• Independent coordination of the preparation of results, including interim and final reports as well as presentations.
• Autonomous and proactive briefing of relevant stakeholders.
• Interdisciplinary development of action plans and decision documents, and alignment with relevant partners and stakeholders.

Your Profile

·        Degree in statistics, mathematics, (business) computer science, software engineering or a related field of study, or a comparable qualification

·        Proven experience in applying AI methods along with related IT infrastructure

·        Practical experience in organizing and implementing data-centric use cases, as well as project management experience

·        You have an exceptional talent for translating complex technical concepts into understandable insights for diverse audiences, fostering a data-driven mindset throughout the organization

·        You are highly organized, proactive, and results-oriented, always striving for excellence and tangible impact

·        You demonstrate a passion for driving innovation and making a significant difference in a dynamic, data-driven environment

Key Skills

·        Experience with AI use case implementation and planification

·        High motivation for designing, developing, and implementing production-grade, data-driven projects.

·        Excellent understanding of methods for efficient data processing and analysis at a senior level (Data Science)

·        Proficiency in programming with Python, SQL, and Spark, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and production-ready code.

·        Very good knowledge of state-of-the-art visualization tools like PowerBI

·        Demonstrated experience with modern data platforms like Databricks or MS Fabric as well as cloud-computing platforms like Azure or AWS

·        DevOps Experience: Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps

·        Knowledge in versions control platforms like Git

·        Knowledge extracting process data Data Pipeline building (ETL): API

Additional desirable qualifications

·        Containerization Technologies: Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes

·        Data mesh concepts, data product building

·        Agile Methodologies: Understanding of agile methodologies

·        Certifications: Certifications in cloud technologies or big data are a plus
