Job Overview:
The ALFA Operations Support Specialist (Tax) is a member of the ALFA Operations Support team that is responsible for supporting the contract management system (ALFA) for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, as well as our tax system, Vertex. This individual ensures that tax rates, rules, and jurisdictions are accurately configured within Vertex, and stays current with changes in tax legislation. This position also provides support to other departments by troubleshooting tax-related issues and ensuring compliance with all applicable sales tax regulations.
This position interacts with teams and stakeholders across MBFS, including the Office of Tax Affairs, Finance & Controlling, Business Operations, IT, Marketing, Legal and our Alfa Systems and Vertex vendors. The purpose of these interactions is to ensure the ALFA and Vertex systems operate effectively, remain compliant, and support the company’s current and future business and legal requirements.
This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary business support contact and subject matter expert for ALFA and Vertex, responding to operational stakeholder inquiries related to system functionality, configuration, business rules, data queries, and tax regulatory requirements. (30%)
- Design, implement, and test configuration, business rules, and data changes in ALFA and Vertex to support operational requirements, defect remediation, and platform upgrades. (30%)
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to corporate initiatives impacting ALFA and Vertex, with a focus on system data, functionality, and end‑user experience across current and future‑state environments. (20%)
- Participate in the planning, development, and testing of system enhancements in ALFA and Vertex, and develop clear, accurate documentation to support those enhancements. (10%)
- Perform and support compliance testing for ALFA and Vertex system functionality subject to established system or manual controls. (10%)
Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:
- Business-General: 5 years
- Finance: 1 year
- Tax: 3 years
Education:
High School Diploma/(GED) is required, Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Recommended majors include:

- Computer Information Science
Additional Knowledge:
- Sales and use tax knowledge for US required...Canada and Mexico a plus. This includes state and provincial tax laws as it relates to Motor Vehicle Leasing, including personal property tax
- Knowledge of Vertex O Series required
- 2+ years of experience with captive automotive finance preferred
- 2+ years of experience with financial calculations preferred
