Business Intelligence Analyst

Reports to: Head of Finance, Risk & Governance

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid: Work from Home & In-Office) 
Job Type: Full time, Salaried
Band: 90

Salary Range: $54,306 - $89,605


Position Summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst partners with business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality data insights and visualizations that support strategic and operational decision‑making. This role collaborates closely with the Data Insights and Advanced Analytics (DIAA) team to design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions, while also acting as a data steward for supported business areas.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence and Reporting

·       Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality dashboards, reports, and data extracts using Business Intelligence and visualization tools (including IBM Cognos Framework, Tableau, Rapid SQL, or other SQL client tools), with a strong focus on non‑repetitive and ad‑hoc analysis.

·       Maintain and enhance reports and data extracts owned by the Data Insights and Advanced Analytics (DIAA) team.

·       Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all Business Intelligence solutions.

·       Support the evolution of the data warehouse by modifying and creating data specifications in response to business and analytics requirements.

Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement

·       Support the creation and maintenance of data models to enable effective analytics and reporting.

·       Contribute to intuitive analytics, information design, and self‑service reporting tools that support complex business problem‑solving.

Collaboration

·       Partner with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.

·       Collaborate closely with Business Intelligence and IT teams, both locally and with U.S. counterparts.

·       Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify data gaps and continuously enhance the reporting and analytics environment.

·       Proactively identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement, and recommend effective, data‑driven solutions.

Project & Initiative Support

·       Analyze and assess the impact of key initiatives and projects on Business Intelligence and data environments.

·       Support BI‑owned projects and actively participate in cross‑functional initiatives affecting the BI domain.

·       Provide analytical insights that support portfolio monitoring, risk assessment, and financial performance reporting.

Ad‑Hoc Analysis & Decision Support

·       Deliver timely, non‑repetitive, ad‑hoc analysis to support strategic and operational business decision‑making.

Compliance, Governance & Continuous Improvement

·       Ensure compliance with established policies, guidelines, and procedures.

·       Stay informed on emerging analytics techniques, tools, and artificial intelligence trends relevant to financial analytics.

 

Qualifikationen

Education and Experience:

·       Undergraduate degree with focus in Business (Business Administration, Accounting, Computer/Information Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Statistics)

·       3-5 years of overall business experience is required.

·       Experience delivering analytics in regulated or financial services environments, including the captive automotive finance industry, is considered an asset.

Areas of Knowledge:

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       General familiarity of business and strategy.

·       Proficient information technology expertise.

·       Strong analytical, problem solving, analysis and PC skills.

·       Ability to collect data and establish facts and identify trends and variances.

·       Propensity to integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity.

·       Capacity to review, interpret, and evaluate statistical information.

·       Required knowledge includes proficiency in SQL and BI concepts (Power BI).

·       Preferred experience using other BI tools/Software: IBM Cognos Framework, Tableau, Phyton.
